On a Friday night SYL members and their guests, organized a fundraiser to benefit, YO! House. Since 1989, Hale Kipa and the Waikiki Health Center have been providing services to runaway and homeless youth and young adults on Oahu through the Youth Outreach (YO) program. The program provides street outreach, drop-in services, case management, counseling, and health/medical services to street/street-identified youth on a referral and walk-in basis.
The fundraiser consisted of a team treasure hunt throughout Waikiki. Teams competed to solve clues and complete their treasure map, in search of their treasure. Prizes were donated by Alternate Energy, Consolidated Theaters, Halekulani and InSynergy Engineering. Each person that participated, gave a $20 donation to support YO! House. Through our combined efforts, we were able to raise $1,340! The money raised may be used for items like supplies for GED training, security deposits to help homeless youth find a place to live and even vaccinations. There is so much that can be done to help our homeless youth, see the PDF for other items that are needed.
